Alternative to PromptBase

PromptBase alternative: prompt templates without paying per prompt

PromptBase is a marketplace where individual creators list AI prompts for sale, priced per prompt, plus a subscription option (PromptBase Select) for a monthly download allowance. It is a storefront model rather than a free library: browsing is free, a small selection of prompts is listed for free, but using most prompts requires a purchase.

How PromptBase compares

Comparison of PromptBase and this prompt library, by feature
Feature PromptBase This library
Price Pay per prompt: median about US$5.99, ranging US$2.99–US$29.99 across a 188-listing sample (third-party survey); a small selection of prompts is free; PromptBase Select subscription from US$19/month for 10 downloads/month (official promptbase.com homepage). Free, no account required.
Supported models Prompts are listed for ChatGPT/GPT, Midjourney, DALL·E and Stable Diffusion, tagged per listing. Any AI model — copy the filled prompt to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or any other tool.
Login required Browsing is free without an account; buying requires checking out, which needs an account (exact account-creation point not spelled out on the pages we could reach). No login. Favourites are stored in your browser only.
Quality scoring No published numeric quality score. PromptBase's review team tests each submitted prompt against its example outputs before listing it (official prompt-submission guidelines, §3.7 "Bad test generations"); no money-back guarantee is stated on the pages we could reach. Every template carries a computed PIS quality score from the Local Rules analyser, shown on the page.
Example outputs Sellers must submit varied example outputs that demonstrate the prompt's range — too-similar or edited examples are grounds for rejection (official prompt-submission guidelines); exact required counts are not published as a fixed number. Every template includes an example input, an example output and a "why it works" explanation. For image templates the example output is a written description of what a good result should look like, not an image the prompt actually generated.
Privacy / data handling Not stated publicly on the pages we could reach. The in-browser optimiser runs on Local Rules with no key and your prompt never leaves the browser, or you bring your own OpenRouter, OpenAI, Anthropic or Gemini API key and the browser calls that provider directly.

Where PromptBase is stronger

  • A large marketplace of prompts written and tested by individual specialists for narrow, specific outputs (for example a particular illustration style), curated by seller reputation and reviews.
  • Sellers are required to submit real, unedited example outputs reviewed by PromptBase's team before a prompt is listed — for image prompts this is a stronger preview than a text description alone.
  • A route to earn money selling your own prompts (creators keep 80% of each sale per third-party reporting), which this library does not offer.
